Abstract: Hunger Games (The Hunger Games) è un film del 2012 co-scritto e diretto da Gary Ross. La pellicola è la trasposizione cinematografica dell'omonimo romanzo di fantascienza scritto da Suzanne Collins, con una storia ambientata in un futuro distopico post apocalittico. La storia è ambientata nella nazione di Panem, situata negli Stati Uniti in un'America post-apocalittica, formata dalla ricca Capitol City e da tredici grandi distretti circostanti, di cui dodici ancora abitati ed un tredicesimo che fu distrutto tempo addietro da Capitol City durante un tentativo di ribellione messo in atto da tutti i distretti. Ogni anno, come punizione per aver scatenato la ribellione anni prima, in ogni distretto vengono scelti un ragazzo e una ragazza di età compresa tra i dodici e i diciotto anni per partecipare agli Hunger Games, un evento nel quale i partecipanti devono combattere in un luogo detto "arena", che viene controllata dagli Strateghi per mezzo di computer molto sofisticati, finché uno solo rimane vivo. La selezione avviene tramite una cerimonia chiamata "mietitura", che consiste nel pescare da un'ampolla un biglietto tra i tanti nomi dei candidati.
